Shooting incident in Hamburg: Six killed and several injured

At least six people have been killed and two seriously injured in a shooting incident at a premises belonging to Jehovah’s Witnesses in the Alsterdorf district in the north of the city of Hamburg.

Emergency services told the German broadcaster RTL on the spot.

Several media outlets, including the Wetterauer Zeitung and the Allgemeine Zeitung, write that shots have been fired at a Jehovah’s Witnesses premises in the Alsterdorf district.

The perpetrator or persons must be at large.

Residents in the area have been told not to leave their homes, writes Focus.

The news media further writes that the emergency services were contacted around 9pm by several people who heard gunshots. A large area is now cordoned off.

The police in Hamburg confirm on Twitter that a major police operation is underway and that they will return with more information as soon as they can.
