(Telemark newspaper): LAST: At 10.23pm on Monday evening, the police wrote on Twitter that the lorry had been recovered and that it would be examined more closely afterwards. Emergency services are in the process of terminating at the scene.

Hang outside cliff

A lorry overturned in a construction area in Langangen, the police reported on Twitter just before 7pm on Monday evening. It appears to have driven off a 25-30 meter cliff.

– A truck is involved. The driver has somehow suffered crush injuries. It is only the driver who was involved in the accident, says Erik Olsen, operations manager in the Søreast police district. It is unclear how he sustained his injuries.

The driver, a man in his 70s, was awake and conscious after the accident and was checked by health personnel at the scene. The driver has been sent to the hospital in Skien and is being treated at the emergency department. The air ambulance could only drive to Skien because of the weather.

– The extent of the damage is currently unknown, reports the police.

E18 open

The E18 was closed in both directions after the accident, but is open a short time later. There were long queues at the venue.

According to a TA tipster who drove past the scene, the accident happened on the Lanner side of the E18 where they are working on the new bridge. He says that the car was hanging over a cliff, while the trailer is on land. According to the police, it happened at Sundsåsen in Langangen.

– We consider this to be an occupational accident and we will notify the Norwegian Labor Inspectorate. We are now working to get clarity on what has happened, says Olsen.
