When Julian Ryerson and Borussia Dortmund beat PSG and reached the Champions League final on Tuesday, Ole Gunnar Solskjær (51) appeared in the stands.

The 51-year-old was captured by the camera lenses, but it was not known why he was present at the Parc de Prince.

For now:

– Ole Gunnar Solskjær is a technical observer who is present at matches and provides support to UEFA’s performance analysis unit with live analysis during matches. That is the reason why he was at the match yesterday, Uefa confirms in an email to Dagbladet.

– What are the analyzes used for?

– They are used for trainer training and commercial activities.

It was back in September last year that Solskjær revealed that he had found a new job. In an interview with The Athletic, he confirmed the job at UEFA, but did not hide the fact that he wants to work as a head coach in the future.

– I love England and the Premier League. Even the Championship feels stronger than ever, but I don’t feel tied to England. Maybe another challenge where I need to experience a new culture and learn a new language, said the Norwegian.

In this exclusive interview with Dagbladet, conducted in January 2021, Solskjær spoke in depth about the transfer plans and the rumors that he would be fired:

After the Manchester United exit in November 2021, Solskjær has not managed a team, but according to the reports, that should not have been on the offers.

  • In December last year, Turkish media claimed that Besiktas had offered Solskjær the job as coach.
  • The following month, in January, rumors swirled that the Swedish Football Association wanted Solskjær as the new national team manager. According to Dagbladet’s information, the Norwegian refused the job.
  • In mid-April, Solskjær was for a period the odds-on favorite to take over the Irish national team. United expert Andy Mitten claimed that he had spoken to the Norwegian who had no idea where the rumors came from.
