Hades II has officially begun its early access period. The action game is available in early access via both Steam and the Epic Games Store.

The sequel game introduces Melinoë, the daughter of Hades and the younger sister of Zagreus, as a playable character. As in the series’ first feature, it’s about fighting your way through countless enemies in randomly generated environments, where each death sends the player back to the start.

Compared to its predecessor, new areas to explore, enemies to defeat and weapons to master await. Hades II also introduces new mechanics, such as the ability to sprint.

Melinoë replaces Zagreus as protagonist.

Supergiant Games

As developer Supergiant Games says, Hades II is already a bigger game than its predecessor. There is still more work to be done, and the team plans to introduce new environments, enemies, characters and mechanics over time.

– During the “early access” period, our plan is to release major updates every few months, with new features and more content, followed shortly by small updates to fix bugs that may appear. We aim to release the first of these major updates later this year.

Supergiant expects Hades II to be in early access until sometime in 2025. Until then, the developer will take feedback from players and make changes to the experience where necessary.

We had a great time with the first Hades, which came out in 2020. Reviewer Gøran Solbakken had little to complain about the experience, giving it 9 out of 10 points on our rating scale.
