Narve Gilje Nordås was originally listed on the start lists for 5,000 meters during tonight’s event in Huelva in Spain.

Now the WC bronze winner has changed exercises. Nordås instead runs 1,500 meters and with that meets Filip Ingebrigtsen for a duel.

– He will definitely try to win the 1,500 meters, and depending on how he feels, it may be that he tries to help Per in the 5,000 meters for a few rounds for the sake of training, says Nordås agent Nic Bideau to NRK.

Nordås confirms the plans to NRK.

“Voices”, he writes in an SMS when asked if there will be 1,500 meters and a pacemaker job for the training buddy. Per Svela runs 5,000 meters with the goal of getting under 13.20 minutes, which is the EC requirement for the distance.

The subpoena comes the day after Gjert Ingebrigtsen was prosecuted for violating section 282 of the Criminal Code, which applies to abuse in close relationships, against one of the victims in the case.

Dad Ingebrigtsen is Nordås’ coach and will also be in place in Spain.

Rodal: – Very surprising

Nordå’s choice came suddenly on NRK’s ​​athletics expert Vebjørn Rodal.

– It is very surprising when it has been said all along that Narve apparently came to Spain to run a 5000 meters, but at the last minute turns around.

– At the same time, it means that we will get a very exciting duel between Narve and Filip early in the season, and far earlier than we could have expected just a day ago, he says.

When the running brothers Henrik, Filip and Jakob chose to break with their father, Nordås went the opposite way. Given the background to the brothers’ selection, there is more prestige in Tuesday’s duel.

– Therefore, there is not a good atmosphere between the two camps. The fact that they will now meet in the first 1,500 meters of the season, with that backdrop, makes it extra interesting in many ways, says Rodal.

– Should Nordås have avoided changing practice, given the background in the case?

– I understand the question. It can probably be perceived as a provocation for the running brothers. It has always been said that Nordås will run 5000 and help his training partner, so this shift in the 12th hour surprises me.

Was charged yesterday

Through his lawyers, Gjert Ingebrigtsen has stated that he disagrees with the presentation of the events on which the indictment is based, and that he does not plead guilty.

– The case is naturally a burden for all concerned, and it is therefore requested that the family now rest in peace. We will return to the case in court, where it belongs, said lawyers John Christian Elden and Heidi Reisvang to NRK on Monday.

Counsel for four of the children, Mette Yvonne Larsen, says this is a serious charge.

– There has been a thorough and rapid investigation. We do not agree that the other cases have been dropped, and at least one of them will be appealed, she told NRK yesterday.

She says this applies to serious relationships with a vulnerable person over a longer period of time.

Asking for peace

The running brothers did not want to be interviewed after the father was charged, but gave a statement through their press contact Espen Skoland.

“This is a private family situation. They do not wish to comment on the matter”, he wrote and continued:

“The brothers have asked for peace and want to focus fully on sports. They are grateful that the press has respected this wish”.

The Olympiatoppen has closed the Olympic door for Gjert Ingebrigtsen. He will not be accredited for this summer’s games in Paris.

– A person who has been prosecuted for abuse in close relationships will not be eligible to be accredited in the Norwegian squad for the Olympics, said top sports manager Tore Øvrebø.
