On Monday came the news that Gjert Ingebrigtsen has been charged with abuse in close relationships against one of his children.
Ingebrigtsen has not made a statement after the indictment came, but now shares a song text in a post on Instagram. The text is taken from Andra Day’s song Rise Up from 2015.
His lawyer John Christian Elden told the press on Monday:
– Ingebrigtsen disagrees with the presentation of the events on which the indictment is based – and he consequently does not plead guilty, Elden told VG.
A central incident in the investigation has been an episode involving a towel at the beginning of January 2022. At that time, Gjert Ingebrigtsen and the offended child are said to have argued.
According to the indictment, Ingebrigtsen yelled at the victim, held a finger up in the person’s face – before hitting the face with a wet towel so that a red mark appeared on the cheek.
This must have been a reason for the runner brothers Jakob, Henrik and Filip to break the sporting collaboration with their own father a short time later. The indictment does not concern any of the three running brothers.
– Gjert does not want to engage in any controversy in the media with his child, and will not comment on any of the allegations specifically, apart from the fact that he denies having committed any criminal offence, Elden said on Monday.
