CAMERON NORRIE-CASPER RUUD 2-6, 4-6

Ruud won in two straight sets over Britain’s Cameron Norrie in the Madrid Open. The Norwegian tennis star continued his solid game and Norrie, who is ranked number 30 in the world, was in reality never close to threatening Ruud.

At the end of the first set, Ruud showed high quality with several heavy forehands peppered with drop shots.

– Fantastic by Casper Ruud, commented TV 2’s Christian Paasche.

– Very convincing again from Ruud on the clay in Madrid, he summarized after the first set.

Norrie put some more pressure on Ruud in the second set, but when it was all about to be decided, the Norwegian again showed his class.

– That passing backhand is world class, says Paasche after Ruud secured an important point at 4-3 in the second set.

The decisive ball exchange became descriptive when Ruud dropshotted the last point. Ruud thus won his seventh straight victory and is now ready for the round of 16 in Madrid.

– It feels good. The first set was not completely flawless, but very good. I opened strong and took advantage of Cameron not feeling super well. The second set was a little more difficult, Ruud said in an interview with the organizer after the victory.
