– Chess sport’s Messi – NRK Sport – Sports news, results and broadcasting schedule

– I beat Carlsen, Oro exclaimed when the victory was a fact.

The ten-year-old broadcast live from the party on YouTube and burst into dance after the victory in the bullet party. Both players had one minute of reflection time in the game, and without additions after the moves.

During the game against Carlsen, Oro joked that he would give up chess if he lost based on the current position. After Carlsen made a mistake, it ended with victory for the ten-year-old.

– I am very happy. It is a great pleasure for me, because I had never played against him before, says Oro to Infobae.com.

Argentinian Oro, who has moved to Spain with his family, has been given an appropriate nickname.

– The Messi of chess, writes Spanish AS and the chess giant chess.com, among others.

Last summer, Oro became the youngest player ever to pass 2300 in rating in long chess.

– Totally normal

The Norwegian grandmasters Johan-Sebastian Christiansen and Jon Ludvig Hammer say it is impressive to beat Carlsen, but do not take off on Oro’s behalf.

– It is completely normal for Magnus and the others in the world elite to attack people at that level every now and then, writes Johan-Sebastian Christiansen to NRK.

– The fact that he beat Magnus is of course impressive. But it was after all in a bullet game, so I don’t put too much into it, writes Christiansen.

Hammer says he is not particularly surprised.

– These one-minute games definitely have something to do with chess, but there is a lot more at stake as well, says Hammer.

– On a general basis, it is very impressive to beat Magnus, but I don’t attach much importance to one-minute matches, he says further.

Excited to see if the young players will break through

Christiansen himself lost to eight-year-old Roman Shogdzhiev from Russia during the Rapid Chess World Cup in Uzbekistan over Christmas.

– They are good, those “kids”, said Carlsen at the time.

On Saturday, it was Carlsen himself who suffered a loss.

– The level of the younger guard is sky high during the day. They just keep getting better and better and younger and younger. Then we’ll see if anyone manages to break through. There is still no one who has managed to claim against Magnus, writes Christiansen to NRK.

– Not particularly impressed

This week, Christiansen plays a tournament in Oro’s home country, Argentina. During a dinner with the organizer, the name of the young chess player was mentioned.

– They quickly mentioned Faustino when I asked if they had any upcoming stars. It’s hard to know what everyone is thinking, but I’m guessing they have some expectations.

Nevertheless, Christiansen did not let himself get carried away when he saw Oro during the WC in blitz and rapid chess. He believes it is completely coincidental that he managed to beat Carlsen in the bullet game.

– It was the first time I saw him play, and I wasn’t particularly impressed. He took a real beating, but he’s still very young, so he’ll probably be very good. But you should never predict someone’s career when they are still so young, he sums up.
