– Those who have followed must be familiar with my interests. I don’t want to say anything more. This is something I have planned for many months and I made the final agreement today, says Valle to NTB on Good Friday.

There is less than a day left until the presenter leads the “Easter Labyrinth” for the last time. Every Easter since 1987, he has taken Norwegian radio listeners on a journey around the world in the quiz.

Now, however, it is over. Valle will retire in the summer and will therefore not be heard at cottages around the country next Easter.

– I haven’t done anything else my whole adult life, but it should be good to finish as well. The final paper is quality assured and I am sure that we will have a dignified conclusion, says the presenter.

Attended from phone booth

Over the years, there have been a number of participants who have called in to take part in the treasure hunt. Valle himself best remembers one of the finalists from the first year.

– He participated from a phone booth. Admittedly, he didn’t win, but that says something about how far the world has come since then.

Valle is also proud of what he has achieved over the years. Before the last broadcasts, several media have interviewed him, and this year’s season was opened by Prime Minister Jonas Gahr Støre (Ap).

– It’s very stately and pleasant. I also think I deserve it. I haven’t actually done anything else my whole adult life, says Valle.

– Unfair

Although Valle will no longer be heard on the air, NRK has said that there will be a round of the “Easter Labyrinth” next year as well. The soon-to-be retiree doesn’t think the program will be the same without him.

– Even if they are to keep the name, I know little about how it will turn out. I hope that it will not keep the same form, because the future presenter will always be compared to me. I think that is unfair.

Valle, for his part, is still not sure what he will do for Easter next year.

– I have no concrete plans, but I will have time off for the first time. It’s an opportunity to spend some time with others, including my seven grandchildren, says Valle.
