– There were two men who had been in a basketball fight with another man and inflicted stab wounds on him, then they ran from the scene, says Tore Barstad of the Oslo police to NTB at 21.45.

The police describe the violent incident as serious and say the injuries to the stabbed man are described as serious, but not life-threatening. He was conscious and contactable when the emergency services arrived at the scene, and has since been taken to hospital for treatment.

Seized knife

Barstad confirms that it is a stabbing, and says the police have seized a knife at the scene.

– We have seized the knife itself and are working to obtain video surveillance that shows the escape route of the two perpetrators, says the task leader.

The police have little information about the perpetrators, but say the two who ran from the scene were two men with North African appearance. They were seen running in the direction of Bernt Ankers gate towards Torggata.

Will contact witnesses

– We are of course interested in getting in touch with witnesses who may have information about the case, says Barstad.

The stabbing took place outside the nightclub Revolver in the center of Oslo, not far from Youngstorget.

– We do not know whether the pretext was inside the night club or at a nearby night club, but we believe the violent incident itself happened outdoors, says the task leader, who emphasizes that it will take time to gather all the video evidence as a result of the number of night clubs in the area.
