Tolkien’s magical world is resurrected on the screen.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav revealed Wednesday that the first of a series of new films based on “The Lord of the Rings” will be released in 2026, according to Deadline.
Zaslav says that the team is in an early phase of developing scripts for the project based on JRR Tolkien’s books.
The new films will be directed by Peter Jackson, who was also behind the original Lord of the Rings trilogy, along with screenwriters Fran Walsh and Philippa Boyens.
Last year, New Line Cinema and Warner Bros. revealed Pictures that they will revive The Lord of the Rings with new films based on JRR Tolkien’s books. New Line Cinema was also behind the previous Lord of the Rings films.
– We are thrilled to be able to start this journey together with New Line Cinema and Warner Bros, which will bring Tolkien’s unique world back to the big screen in new and exciting ways, said CEO of the Swedish company Embracer Group, Lee Guinchard, in a press release then.
This happened after Warner Bros announced last year that it has signed an agreement with the Embracer Group, which owns the film rights to Tolkien’s works, according to CNN.
