McDonald’s Storo: – Found a beard in the Happy Meal
--

– When I stuck my hand into the Happy Meal box, I felt something tingle. When I looked down, I was shocked. That’s what Turilow says to Dagbladet.

On Friday evening, he was at Storo storsenter in Oslo with his four-year-old son, when they decided to order some food.

The choice fell on McDonald’s at Storo, a restaurant they have visited for several years.

His boy was going to get a Happy Meal with “chicken nuggets”, while he himself went for a burger.

– I thought several of the tables were dirty, so I asked them to clear a table for us, which they did.

Turilow does not want his first name in the newspaper, but Dagbladet knows his full name.

Restaurant owner Maria Cristina Enger Male at McDonald’s Storo regrets the incident. Read her answer further down in the case.

Threatened: Warns

– Very uncomfortable

Turilow and his son were finally going to sit down and enjoy the meal at the restaurant, and the joy was great for the four-year-old, who was going to enjoy both a toy and a “chicken nugget” from McDonald’s.

– I first took the toy out, but when I put my hand down again and discovered the beard, I was shocked. It was very uncomfortable, he says.

Turilow says that he went straight up to the till to show the staff the surprise that appeared in the burger box.

According to him, the employees took it very seriously and paid back the money for the food. Nevertheless, he is clear that he will not visit the restaurant again.

Dagbladet has seen the return receipt for the sum that was repaid.

Anders Aak, pest researcher at the Institute of Public Health, confirms to Dagbladet that the photos show bearded dragons.

So does pest controller Glen Hovdal at the company Skadedyrkontroll 1 AS.

– This is beard cream. The length of the tail feathers and their spread are very clear, he tells Dagbladet after being presented with the images.

– First time

Maria Cristina Enger Male is restaurant owner of McDonald’s at Storo.

On Friday evening, she confirms that she has been informed about the incident.

– I received a message earlier today from a shift manager that a customer had received a beetle in a Happy Meal box, she tells Dagbladet and adds:

– We have not previously had problems with beards, and this is the first time we have experienced this happening, but I understand that this was an unpleasant experience for the customer.

She adds that there is nothing more than to apologize for the incident.

Enger Male states that she herself visited the restaurant earlier in the day, without herself discovering any insects or bearded insects.

She believes that this may have been an isolated case.

– We have strict washing routines with washing thoroughly under machines and examining with a flashlight. We also have agreements with pest controllers who regularly come and inspect the restaurant for pests. They give us reports, she says.
