Due to a technical error at the Oslo Control Center, the airspace over southern Norway was temporarily closed. Avinor stated this in a press release.

– Significant delays are expected. Duration is currently unknown. We encourage all travelers to refer to the information they receive from their airline. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes, Avinor pointed out on Thursday morning.

At 09:30, Avinor announced that the error has been corrected and the airspace is gradually opening up to traffic. Due to the incident, there will unfortunately be delays throughout the day.

Avinor apologizes for the inconvenience this causes and asks all passengers to comply with the information they receive from their airline.

Check your flight departure

Norwegian informed TV 2 on Thursday morning that the closure currently applies until 11 o’clock.

– We have been told that the airspace will be closed until 11 in any case. This means that we will have to cancel a number of flights, says communications advisor Eline Hyggen Skari at Norwegian to tv 2.

Currently, these flights to and from Bodø Airport are affected as a result of the closure:

Here it started

On Thursday morning, there was not a single plane to be seen in the airspace over southern Norway.

At 08.24, communication manager Cathrine Framholt at Avinor informed RHA that the airspace has been partially opened.

– Now I just got word that some flights will be opened, and we will prioritize landing for long-haul flights. It will be a strictly controlled airspace, but someone will be able to land, she tells RHA.

The reason was a technical error at Avinor’s control center in Røyken.

– It is not very often that an error affects the whole of southern Norway. There are major delays and many airlines have started to cancel. Those who are going to travel must follow the information they receive from their airlines, said Framholt.

Avinor is responsible for 43 state-owned airports, and the air traffic control service for civil and military aviation in Norway. This network binds Norway together – and Norway together with the world.

Avinor is a driving force in environmental work in aviation and a driving force to reduce overall greenhouse gas emissions from Norwegian aviation. The company has a leading role in the development of electric aircraft, and the supply of biofuel for aircraft.
