There are many canceled flights to and from Evenes on Thursday morning. The reason is that the airspace over southern Norway is temporarily closed. This is as a result of a technical error at the Oslo Control Center, reports Avinor.

At Evenes, flights from both Norwegian and SAS are canceled in the morning hours. Both departures 1050 and 1105 have been cancelled. The planes were supposed to land at 1020 and 1035, but the passengers are still standing at Gardermoen without getting off.

iHarstad has received a message from a passenger who was going to meetings in Harstad who does not know if she will make it north today.

– Significant delays are expected. Duration is currently unknown. We encourage all travelers to refer to the information they receive from their airline. We apologize for the inconvenience this causes. This is all the information we have at the moment. We will come back with more information. writes Avinor in a press release.

At Oslo Airport, the last flight took off at 6 o’clock, according to Avinor’s overview.

NTB spoke just after 6.30 with a passenger on a plane that was supposed to take off from Gardermoen, but where the pilot stated that air traffic control is down all over the country, and that the entire system is paralysed.

Avinor asks passengers to travel to the airports as usual.

Partially opened

At 08.24, communications manager Cathrine Fuglesang Framholt at Avinor informed Røyken and Hurum Avis that the airspace has been partially opened.

– Now I just got word that some flights will be opened, and we will prioritize landing for long-haul flights. It will be a strictly controlled airspace, but someone will be able to land, she tells the newspaper.

Both SAS SK4083 at 10:50 and Norwegian DY365 at 11:05 from Evenes to Oslo, Gardermoen are cancelled.

SAS SK4082 with arrival at 10:20 and Norwegian DY360 with arrival at 10:35 from Oslo to Evenes are also cancelled.

VG, which was in contact with Norwegian, wrote that the airspace in southern Norway would be temporarily closed until 11.00, and that the airline would have to cancel several flights.

To Forward, the press officer at Avinor, Helene W Jensen, could not tell what was the cause of the technical problems that paralyzed air traffic in southern Norway.

She told NRK that there was no question of any kind of data breach.

– I can deny that it is. There are two systems that don’t talk to each other as they should, said press officer Jensen to NRK
