In a proposal for a new lease for Palmesus, the popular festival must pay for far more days than they have done in the past.

– They use the tenderloin from our town in the high season, and then it is important to us that they spend as little time as possible on rigging up and down. This agreement gives them a financial incentive to do so, says event manager Tore Løvland in Kristiansand municipality to Fædrelandsvennen.

Until now, the festival has only paid for the days the festival has been organised, but now the municipality wants to charge from the day set-up starts until the day take-down is finished.

In 2024, Palmesus will pay NOK 572,961 for renting Bystranda for three days, but in connection with setting up and taking down, the festival will seize the area for around ten days.

Løvland has written a case for political consideration about the new proposed lease agreement, which will apply from 2025.
