When the fire brigade drove by, the boat was calmly docked – three hours later it was under water: – No one had a clue how

– Work is now being done on replacing and upgrading bilges, as well as intensifying the work to suck up the pollution in the bilges, says Sigurd Folgerø Dalen, communications manager at the Fire and Rescue Service.

Have sent out a notice

– It will be possible to experience blueshine on the way in the area of Vippetangen and Langkaia towards the opera, says Dalen.

The reason is the combination of the amount of emissions from the boat, weather and wind and reduced monitoring of the bilges during the night, according to the agency.

The Norwegian Environment Agency confirms to AO that they have notified sauna and bathing facilities in the area, and have put up information signs at Vippetangen, Langkaia and Sørenga. Since the bathing season does not officially start until 15 May, no official warning has been sent out, says press officer Marie Berge.

– On a general basis, bathing directly in blueshine is not recommended. The individual business itself makes a local assessment in relation to this. Blueshine on the way will, based on the weather and wind, evaporate, says Dalen.

– My livelihood

On Sunday morning, the boat “MS Lånan” sank while it was docked at Vippetangen. The slightly over 70-foot-long pleasure boat was built in 1966 at Fosen in Trøndelag, and has been in cruise traffic in the Oslo Fjord since the 80s.

– It is absolutely horrible. Now it was just before the start of the season and we were getting the boat ready. This is my livelihood. It is simply cruel, said boat owner Thomas Berg to AO on Monday.
