Jakob and Elisabeth Asserson Ingebrigtsen share openly about their role as parents:

In February, the news came that athletics star Jakob Asserson Ingebrigtsen (23) and his wife Elisabeth Asserson Ingebrigtsen (23) are expecting their first child together.

“New team member coming in June,” they wrote on Instagram at the time.

– It’s “the father”

In an interview with TV 2, the married couple share honestly about how they think their everyday life will affect their daughter.

– What is the “danger” here is that she starts running, just like you, says Elisabeth to the website, while Jakob adds:

– It can go either way. It’s either or. Either children hate what their parents do – or they are inspired. There is never anything in between.

Furthermore, he emphasizes that the fast-paced life does not suit everyone, and that he wants his children to be able to do exactly what they want to do.

– I will be very supportive as a father. It is a requirement from my side that the children receive the follow-up of their parents to do as they wish.

In March, Elisabeth took to Snapchat to say that it is uncertain whether her husband will be present during the birth – due to his hectic schedule.

The term date falls in the middle between the European Athletics Championships in Rome, which will be held on 7 – 12 June, and the NM in Sandnes, which will take place on 27 – 29 June. In the time between the two championships, a training stay in the Swiss St. Moritz is planned.

The 23-year-old could then say that they had made a plan if the birth were to take place while Jakob was away.

– Most likely he will get on the first flight home, and if he doesn’t make it then he won’t make it. Then I have people here at home who can join, and he will come as soon as he can – and that’s just the way it is.

– It’s awkward for me, but it’s probably pretty awkward for Jakob as well. He certainly wants to be at home and greet her right away, instead of someone else being there, but we just have to make the best of it, Elisabeth said at the time.
