– Have you already changed to summer tyres? Then you may have to leave the car on Thursday, writes Meteorologists at X.
A yellow danger warning for snow has been sent out, including in the southernmost part of the country, where between 5 and 25 centimeters of snow is expected.
According to Ratajczak, the most snow is expected in Rogaland, Agder and in Eastern Norway.
– It is a rather sudden change, but it is typical for April. It can change very suddenly from summer atmosphere to winter again, so for those who haven’t changed their tyres, I would probably wait a bit before doing so, says on-duty meteorologist Marek Ratajczak.
From sun to snow
1 April was the warmest day so far this year in several places in the country, including in Western Norway. Etne was the big weather winner on Monday, with 15.5 degrees.
Several also made the trip to Nygårdsparken in Bergen to sunbathe.
– It won’t be that long this time around. It will be milder again at the weekend, so for those who are getting sad now, it is perhaps a consolation that this is a bit temporary, says Ratajczak.
Although the most snow will fall in the south of Norway, a lot of precipitation is already expected in the west on Wednesday.
– There will be snow on the mountains in Bergen, among other things. But the question is whether there will be sleet or rain in the city, says Ratajczak.
Heavy snowfall is expected in the north
In the north of the country, heavy snowfall is expected, and a yellow danger warning has been issued about possible polar low pressure.
The low pressure is expected to hit Troms and Vest-Finnmark during the night to Wednesday.
– Locally there will be a gale and perhaps even a small storm of changing direction. Together with snow showers, this will cause heavy snow drifts, writes the Meteorological Institute.
The meteorologists ask motorists to be aware if they are going out for a drive on Wednesday morning.
