ARENDAL (Nettavisen): – Ambulance and police patrols have responded to a report of an injured person at the Boots pharmacy in the center of Arendal. Health personnel are on site and provide first aid. It is unclear what has happened, operations manager at the Agder police district, Øyvind Hægeland, wrote to the press at 09.59 on Tuesday morning.
10.37 Hægeland tells Nettavisen that the situation is still completely unclear.
– We will come back with more information later, now we have to gather the threads, says Hægeland.
Shortly afterwards, Fædrelandsvennen reports that a person has been confirmed dead, but that they still do not know if anything criminal has happened.
He tells Nettavisen that the police were notified by the AMK central at 09.27 on Tuesday morning.
Shortly after 11.00, Nettavisen’s dispatcher reports that crime technicians in white suits are at the scene.
Police on the scene say that the street will be blocked off for several hours.
Anita Nielsen is store manager at Interoptik Brillehjørnet in Friholmsgaten in Arendal. She tells Nettavisen that she came to work as usual a little after 08.30 on Tuesday morning.
– Then it was completely quiet here. Eventually there were two police cars and two ambulances at the scene, says Nielsen to Nettavisen.
At first the police blocked off a small part of the street, but now the whole street is closed.
– I can’t get customers in or out of the store. The police are on the scene, but the ambulance has left, says the store manager to Nettavisen.
The police have asked Nielsen about surveillance images, which she does not have, but they have not wanted to say what has happened.
– Now I have to call my customers and say that they cannot come for eye tests today. I am not allowed to let them in, and lose a whole day’s turnover. This affects several shops in the street here, says Nielsen.
