Leave stairs and fix Karistien at Aksla

However, it has been a huge challenge to get on the path through the beautiful landscape. Because one must be well shod.

– We have had to almost stop people who come to walk in low shoes. It has been completely hopeless, so the path has been on our plans for a while, and now we throw ourselves into the work, and there is a fantastic group of around ten men who have worked and stood by it, he says.

We are therefore talking about Aksla west, and the path that runs on the north side from Ravneskaret until it comes down to the road at Kniven in the west.

– The path is called “Karistien” and we have now been on it for a week, with up to ten eleven hours, but now we are taking Easter holiday until Tuesday. Then we continue.

A great stone staircase has been put in place at the west end of Karistien, a place where walkers often had to pull themselves up over smooth stones with the help of ropes.

-When do you see the work being finished?

– We are about halfway through now, but we should be finished during the spring. It can certainly be used now too, but in some places it is probably wet.

A fantastic view to the north, and Arnstein’s forest cathedral tempts many. Because “Karistien” is a popular trail. And it will become even more popular, according to Arnstein.

– This is a very special area, and we are planning both benches and railings in the area, so just bring a packed lunch and coffee. For now it will be a good experience to also travel on this part of Aksla, he says.
