True to tradition, the Russians will soon start their events around Telemark. There is a lot that can be said about Russian parties and style, but for us it is now about creating a good and safe framework for Russian events. It is something that the Russians themselves have been calling for for several years.

We believe that the county council as school owner and the municipalities in Telemark should have a plan for how events can take place in a safe framework. It is something not least the Russians themselves, parents and the police will be concerned about.

We know that many people today refuse to participate in Russian parties because of some uncontrolled and exclusionary partying. Unfortunately, many young people also experience an exclusion from more private group-organized Russian parties. It shouldn’t be like that.

Therefore, we would like to encourage the Telemark county municipality together with, for our part, the municipality of Skien, to set aside NOK 1.5 million for a searchable pot so that the Russian together with voluntary and non-profit organizations can organize Russian events that are in a safe framework and arranged for everyone who is Russian in 2024.

This year, several county councils and municipalities are planning a similar scheme. We in Telemark should follow up on a desire that has been there for many years. It has been raised as a political matter in Skien, but for now the signals are that the municipality will not do anything about this.

Our aim is to avoid many uncontrolled parties around the cities for the next three months. We know that will create conflicts between local communities, the police and the Russians themselves.

A paradox is that during the last year of upper secondary school, a number of good preventive activities are carried out with health nurses, the police and the Norwegian Public Roads Administration, but when the parties start in earnest there are no “responsibles” present. Here we believe it should be better organized with security guards, sanitary facilities and waste management.

The goal must be that there are good inclusive events for everyone, and that we avoid noise and personal injury.

We therefore encourage local politicians to challenge their municipality to contribute financially to a searchable sum of money that volunteers and non-profit organizations can use to create safe Russian events throughout Telemark.
