(Lofotposten): SAR Queen circled at 14.45 in the Nappstraum area in anticipation of weather conditions to get close to Stornappstinden in Flakstad.
The assignment was to pick up an injured skier.
There had been transient snow showers in the area for the last hour.
At 15.00 the helicopter is over the top of the peak. The snow showers have eased.
–The patient has been picked up and taken to Bodø, the rescue manager at the main rescue center tells Lofotposten.
The person was part of a tour group, but Lofotposten has no information about the number or nationality.
– What can you say about what happened?
– I can’t say much other than that one person has injured himself.
– Is it a case of a fall?
– I would assume so.
– Where in the mountains did this happen?
– It happened towards the top of Stornappstinden.
The mountain is 740 meters high and is a popular mountain also in winter. According to Fatmap, the trip there is of moderate difficulty, but with a high risk of falling.
