JUMP SHIP: The new housing project starts sales on 31 May.

Stor-Oslo Eiendom launches the Pilar Bjerke housing project in Oslo and encourages the Americans on the USS Gerald R. Ford to “jump the ship”.

– The visit of the USS Gerald R. Ford coincides with the start of sales on 31 May for the Pilar Bjerke property project at Bjerkebanen, and we saw an opportunity to do something fun around this. In the media we have read that the crew on the ship is very enthusiastic about Oslo and Norwegians, with statements in Avisa Oslo such as “As soon as my contract is up, I’m moving here. We threw ourselves around and ordered several outdoor boards in the center of Oslo and have created a separate mini-campaign against the American crew, says Halvor Hauge, consultant at the advertising agency WAL.

The “Jump ship” campaign is inspired by maritime terminology and plays on the idea of replacing military ships with a home on Bjerke. The homes overlook the Oslo Fjord, so the sailors can have a sea view when they miss their former maritime career.

– It is a good fit to welcome the crew of the USS Gerald R. Ford to Oslo, and at the same time present our newest housing project at Bjerke, which will start sales on 31 May, says Josephine Leine Granlie, marketing manager Bolig i Stor-Oslo Eiendom.

She points out that the market for new housing is challenging at the moment, but clarifies that Stor-Oslo Eiendom is very positive about testing both traditional and non-traditional measures to create attention for the housing project.

– It would have been very nice if one or more of the crew on the USS Gerald R. Ford actually considered “jump ship” and settled on Bjerke.
