Prince Philip reportedly warned Queen Elizabeth about Meghan Markle, according to expert

In October 2016, it became known that Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex (39) had found love with American actress Meghan Markle (42).

While the late Queen Elizabeth II initially had high hopes for Harry’s future wife, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, is said to have been worried.

This is written by the British newspaper The Mirror, which quotes the royal author Ingrid Seward in her book “My Mother and I”, which is about the relationship between King Charles III and his mother, Queen Elizabeth.

Abdicated for love

“Soon, the country as a whole seemed to welcome Meghan with as genuine joy (as the Queen, journ.anm). One of the few who was wary of succumbing to her charm offensive, however, was Prince Philip. While the Queen continued to fight for Harry’s new love, he warned his wife to be careful,” Seward writes in the book.

According to Seward, Meghan, now Duchess of Sussex, must have reminded him of the American Wallis Simpson, who was also divorced and married a British royal, namely King Edward.

King Edward VIII was king of Great Britain in 1936, but had to abdicate the same year when he fell in love and wanted to marry the divorced Simpson. The two later became the Duke and Duchess of Windsor.

Edward’s brother, and Queen Elizabeth’s father, King George VI, then took over as regent.

Prince Philip nicknamed Meghan Markle

According to Seward, Prince Philip should have had a nickname for Meghan, based on how much she reminded him of Simpson.

Seward told that in an interview with GB News.

The nickname should have been “Duchess of Windsor” often abbreviated “DoW”, she continued.

Furthermore, Seward writes that Queen Elizabeth was “fully aware” of what Philio meant by the comparison. And later himself should have remarked that Harry might have been a little “too in love” with Meghan. Probably in reference to how the duke couple opted out of the British royal family and moved to California in the USA.
