(NETTAVISEN): Earlier this week, artist and podcaster Tone Damli (35) shared a video on Instagram from the recording of his own podcast “Robbery with Tone”.

The podcast involves Damli taking well-known Norwegian profiles on a driving trip, while they have a chat about what is going on in their respective lives.

This week it was TV and radio profile Silje Nordnes (39) who was a guest in the passenger seat, when the podcast recording suddenly took an abrupt turn.

– Oi, I ran a red light now, me. I’m just going to talk a bit, so there will be a lot going on, says a laughing and stressed Damli, who is about to run a red light.

– No, the police are there, you know. No, no, no, now I’m driving in here. Don’t say it’s me he’s going to take. Oh my God, it’s me he’s going to take, says the artist further before the police suddenly stand at the car door.

Although Damli seems to take the situation with a smile, several have reacted to the artist’s handling.

– Not very safe as a driver

In the comments section below the video, several people have reacted with laughter and questions about what happened next, but several also point to the need to be attentive while driving.

“Think you need some practice driving… you’re not a very safe driver.” writes one user in the comment field, while another has wondered about the traffic safety gap:

“I have thought for a long time that it is a traffic hazard. You don’t have enough attention in traffic when you are grafting at the same time. Good thing you didn’t run anyone down then. There was probably a pedestrian crossing there. But you’re a nice lady that I’m rooting for!” write another.

Many also wonder if the meeting with the police had any consequences for Damli.

“What happened next? I imagine you said ‘I’d rather sit here and pod and didn’t see the bright light'” writes Damli’s friend, Sebastian Solberg.

Nettavisen has tried to get in touch with Damli’s manager, David Eriksen, initially without success.

Driving is the only thing you have to do

The Swedish Road Administration, on the other hand, comes with a clear call to motorists after Damli’s accident.

TO Nettavisen, the Swedish Road Administration underlines the importance of focusing on driving only when you are behind the wheel.

Department director for traffic safety, Guro Ranes, tells Nettavisen that it is the only thing you should focus on.

– Running a red light is a violation of the traffic rules. It seems that she has been inattentive because she has been doing other things while driving. To that, we like to say that driving is the only thing you should do, says Ranes to Nettavisen.

The importance of being focused while driving is also pointed out on the Norwegian Public Roads Administration’s website.

“Both what we see, hear, think and do can take our attention. Behind the wheel, it is extra important to make sure that you pay your full attention to driving.”
