For a number of years, Caroline Berg Eriksen (37) was one of the country’s most read bloggers. Under the name “Fotballfrue”, she shared big and small things from her everyday life, and built up a huge following.
She constantly shone on red carpets, and invited the cameras into her life through the TV series “The Bloggers”.
In recent years, however, it has been quieter from her. But now she is back on the screen as one of the participants in the cooking competition “Camp Kulinaris”.
The last time Caroline was on TV, she took part in “Norway’s new megahit” in 2021. The break from the limelight has not been a conscious choice, but a natural consequence of the calendar being filled with other things to do.
– Alongside my job as an influencer, I am studying to become a personal trainer. Together with my husband, I have also developed the training app Netfit. It takes a lot of time. In addition, I am a mother of two, so everything has to be balanced, says Eriksen.
– Take it too far
The reverse side of the medal
Work and personal life often go hand in hand for the blogging pioneer, who has had enormous success sharing private photos with her fans. But as you know, the medal has a flip side.
Everyone has opinions about what she does, and gossip, prejudice and rumors have almost become commonplace. Holiday photos in particular arouse attention among followers. When she shares pictures of herself in a bikini, many people speculate whether she has deceived herself into a well-trained body.
Laughing at the rumours
– Someone wrote that I must have had an operation on my butt, says Caroline about the holiday photos she posted in 2019, where the rear end stole all the focus.
– Becomes a different type of relationship
Others have asked whether she uses a bottom pad under her clothes, and several times she has been asked whether she has gone under the knife.
– I can take that as a compliment, Caroline says with a laugh.
Do not care
She denies the operation rumours, and says that she usually doesn’t care about people’s comments.
– I have grown up so much that I can’t bear to deal with it. People think, dig and keep at it. If it makes them happy, then they just get on with it. I’m living my life and I’m having a great time. That is what is important to me, she asserts.
Caused a stir
Life under the microscope has become the norm. With close to 300,000 followers on Instagram, the mother of two from Sarpsborg shares photos from holiday trips, Christmas celebrations with the family, cabin life, food recipes and training tips.
That’s why she disappeared
Most of the comments are positive, and the fans eagerly follow what Caroline does. The temperature in the comments section is far calmer than in the past, when it sometimes took off on social media and created big headlines in the media.
Like in 2013 when Caroline shared a photo of her flat stomach – four days after giving birth to her first child.
No regrets
The picture created a fierce debate. Some believed that it put pressure on women to get in shape quickly after giving birth, while others believed that it inspired them to enjoy exercise.
The post was discussed and debated in TV programmes, online newspapers and weekly magazines. Eriksen had no idea what a circus the photo would cause, but says she would do the same thing again.
Sharing happy news
– It’s about showing that you are proud of yourself. Why shouldn’t one be allowed to show it? At the time, I didn’t think about the consequences. At the same time, I think it’s nice to have been in it, and think that I would probably still post it.
The ex-blogger stands for what she has shared on social media, but life in the spotlight has left its mark. At one point the attention became so intense that Caroline pulled back a little.
– I became terribly skeptical of the press, and of answering the phone. I suffer from phone phobia. I never pick up the phone if I don’t know who it is. Before I answered lots of questions, and never thought anything about it, but I learned, she says.
The family is the support
Her blogging career started in the spring of 2009. At the time, she blogged under the name “Fotballfrue”, because her husband Lars Kristian Eriksen (40) played professional football for Lillestrøm. The couple is still married, and the couple also work well together professionally. Lars Kristian takes many of his wife’s photos, and has been by her side through thick and thin.
Stick to Futballfrue
– I’ve been through some storms, and it’s hard when it’s on. Fortunately, I have family and friends I can lean on. I have always been strong, and after I became a mother I have become even more confident and stronger, she says to Se og Hør.
Want to be like mom
Daughters Nelia (10) and Naia (7) find mum’s job very exciting, and the eldest girl has already expressed an interest in following in her footsteps.
– My ten-year-old knows very well what an influencer does, and wants to follow in the same footsteps as me. She thinks it looks fun, and is proud of what I do, says Eriksen, who has warned her daughter that not everything is as idyllic on social media.
– I talk to her about consequences and that not everyone is just kind and nice. She knows it can be tough. It is important to be aware of that, then we will see what they do when they get a little older.
