We had a chat with Jonas Österbacka, head of development at Gandalf, which is the official distributor for Dreame A1 in the Nordics.

– Dreame A1 has a unique technique that enables grass mowing completely without boundary cables in addition to a bunch of other smart functions that take robotic grass mowing to a whole new level, says Jonas Österbacka.

The genius of the Dreame A1 is that it is completely cable-free. This means that you do not need boundary cables like many other robotic lawnmowers. Simply install the charging station, define the mowing area via the remote control in the app, and the A1 is ready for its first lawn mowing.

– It can mow up to 1,000 square meters per day, and thanks to a 3D ultra-sensor system, it easily navigates through the garden and can identify and avoid everything from garden furniture to toys on the lawn, says Österbacka.

Full control in the Dreamehome app

With the intuitive Dreamehome app, you have full control over the Dreame A1 robotic lawnmower. It offers a precise 3D map of your garden and is easy to tailor to your preferences.

– One of the best things about the Dreame A1 has to be the app you use. The interface is exactly as you are used to from robot vacuum cleaners, and is very simple and intuitive to use, says the development manager.

With the app, you can create mowing plans and start mowing from anywhere. Customize the mowing path, determine the frequency of mowing sessions for specific locations or areas, or create no-go zones for a more efficient mowing route.

– You can also choose whether you want the waterproof robotic lawnmower to automatically go to the charging station when it starts to rain, and for it to resume mowing when the rain has stopped to achieve perfect results. The cutting height of the knives can also be adjusted in the app, says Österbacka.

Smart navigation

Dreame A1 is an intelligent robotic lawnmower with advanced navigation techniques. With its OmniSense 3D Ultra Sensing System, it comes with an “all-in-one solution”. In this way, it effectively maps the lawn, locates and avoids obstacles.

– A “regular” robotic lawnmower has a random mowing pattern, which means that it runs criss-cross to mow the entire lawn. Dreame A1 instead uses a 3D laser that constantly scans the surroundings. This is the same technique found in many robot vacuum cleaners, only that the technology has been further developed in the Dreame A1, says Österbacka

The robotic lawnmower is equipped with a 360 degree horizontal and a 59 degree vertical 3D laser, which creates an accurate map of the garden environment. In this way, the A1 effectively fixes obstacles such as furniture, trees and outdoor toys – whether it’s dark or bright outside.

Suitable for the vast majority of gardens

The Dreame A1 can be used on a lawn area of ​​2,000 square meters and effectively mows a floor area of ​​up to 1,000 square meters each per day.

– A1 is suitable for anyone with a larger lawn. The only thing required is a WiFi connection. Alternatively, you can buy with a 4G module that the robotic mower can connect to. In this way, you can control the mower when you are not at home, says Österbacka.

In just three hours, the robust 5Ah battery quickly recharges, ensuring it is prepared for the next session, whether on flat terrain or slopes of up to 45 degrees.

Doesn’t get stuck

Another ingenious thing about the Dreame A1 is the “floating” blades that automatically adjust to their height to avoid getting stuck on uneven terrain. It also prevents potential interruptions and allows you to customize height adjustments for specific areas of the app.

The 22 cm wide blades spin with minimal noise (≤60 dB), ensuring that every blade of grass is cut efficiently as the mower navigates through the garden.

– The advantage of the Dreame A1 is that you can mow as often as you like, and the genius of mowing often is that the mowing also functions as fertilization and adding nutrients so the grass can grow denser and stronger. A robotic lawnmower also helps to keep moss away from the grass, concludes Österbacka.
