Joe Biden has become the oldest person in office ever and later this year the American president turns 82.

This time the blunder happened when he attacked Donald Trump during a speech, writes the New York Post.

– We will definitely never forget the dark days of June 6, the aging president said before correcting himself, Biden said before a star-studded crowd at a fundraiser hosted by Hollywood stars Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones at their home in Westchester.

Second World War

Biden was actually referring to January 6, 2021, when Trump’s supporters stormed the US Congress in protest against what the former president has called a stolen election.

However, on the date Biden first mentioned, another historically significant event occurred. 6 June 1944 is better known to many as D-Day. The day marks the Allied invasion of Normandy during World War II.

Incidentally, on D-Day itself, Joe Biden had turned 1.5 years old.

Bad timing

Although Biden quickly corrected his own error, the slip came right after he had rattled off a number of other apparent blunders by Trump.

– We will never forget his desire for tear gas to be sprayed against peaceful protesters outside the White House, or that he held the Bible upside down. Now he’s writing his own Bible, Biden said of his Republican rival.

He also criticized Trump’s Covid cure where the former president recommended that Americans inject bleach into their arms.

– He injected it into his hair, joked Biden further.

The blunder is just the latest in a series and once again fueled concerns about his mental state and advanced age.

On Wednesday, the president appeared to read his own speaking instructions from a teleprompter during a union conference in Washington DC

– Four more years! Pause, he said aloud.
