On Tuesday evening, Forbes released its annual list of the world’s richest people, as well as a number of related lists. One of these is the list of the world’s richest celebrities.
The hottest name on the list is pop star Taylor Swift. Her hugely successful Eras tour has been very lucrative for the 34-year-old, who is recognized as a dollar billionaire for the first time. She was named Person of the Year by Time magazine last year.
At the top of the list is Star Wars creator George Lucas, with a fortune of 5.5 billion dollars. Most of this stems from the sale of his film company Lucasfilm to Disney for 4 billion dollars twelve years ago
His long-time collaborator Steven Spielberg, the creator of High Summer, Jurassic Park and Schindler’s List, among others, is number two on the list with a fortune of 4.8 billion dollars. Peter Jackson, the producer of The Lord of the Rings, also appears on the list.
Apart from filmmaking, top sport is a good way to rake in the big sums. Basketball legends Michael Jordan, Lebron James and Magic Johnson are all in attendance. So is golf legend Tiger Woods.
In addition to Swift, fellow artists Rihanna and Jay-Z are both on the list with significant fortunes. TV celebrities Oprah Winfrey and Kim Kardashian have also joined the exclusive club.
