Shooting outside Liverpool – Elle (26) shot and killed in a pub

--

The woman who was shot dead in a pub outside Liverpool on the night of Christmas Day has been named as 26-year-old Elle Edwards.

The murder has shaken Britain. Edwards was in a local pub in Wirral with her sister and friends when she was shot in the head just before midnight.

Friends tell Sky News that they thought the bangs were fireworks, before they saw the 26-year-old lying on the floor.

– She was so happy, we all had so much fun, they say in the evening.

In the UK, Christmas Eve is traditionally a night out, as Christmas is celebrated the following morning.

On the loose

Four other people, all young men, were also injured. All the gunshot victims were immediately taken to hospital, but Edwards’ life could not be saved. One of the others, a 28-year-old, is still in critical condition, according to the British channel.

The police believe the perpetrator disappeared in a dark car, possibly an A-class Mercedes, shortly after the crime. He is still at large.

The investigation is at an early stage, but the police assume that the 26-year-old was an accidental victim. The impression is that the perpetrator fired a number of shots at the pub’s entrance, for unknown reasons.

According to the police, Edwards’ family is “devastated and inconsolable”.

The colleagues at the beauty salon where she worked offer the following greetings:

“Thank you for all the laughter and joy you brought into our lives. Rest in paradise, dear angel.”

– Good local community

The police want tips in the case. In particular, they want to get in touch with anyone who may have information about the car, which drove out of the pub’s car park immediately after the shooting.

Angela Eagle, the Labor MP for Wallasey, said she was devastated by the “outrageous” act. She describes the area as “a well-established and good local community”.

– The police have emphasized that the place where this happened has nothing to do with the action, and I hope that will reassure frightened voters who found themselves in the middle of this repulsive tragedy, she tells Sky News.
