Anette Hoff

Anette Hoff talks about the shock experience in “The Game” on TV 2.

It was a long time coming for Anette Hoff (62) to agree to take part in a reality series, she is honest about that.

These days you can follow her as one of the participants in “The Game” on TV 2 – the result of months of persuasion from the production side.

– I said no for three months before they managed to persuade me. Then three nerve-wracking months passed before we got started. There were months when my mind was racing and I did what I could to mobilize a positive expectation, Anette tells Her og Nå.

Participating in the “Game”

What happened next is already a small piece of television history. On the very first day, the “Game” gang was forced to vote out one of the participants, where they collectively decided to vote blank in order to postpone the decision.

However, “Subject” editor Danby Choi went behind everyone’s back and still voted for Anette – who went straight to the basement…

CURIOUS: – I’m not a player or a strategist, and on the first day I was primarily curious about everyone I was going to meet, says Anette about her reality debut.

– Being thrown out before I could turn around, it was a tough thing to experience. Because it cost me so much to join this in the first place. It was that feeling of being unwanted that was gross. I am not a player or a strategist, and on the first day I was primarily curious about everyone I was going to meet. Then I had to go straight out, says Anette before adding:

– Fortunately, things turned around, and really it only created a lot of sympathy to end up as one of the “basement players”.

In harsh conditions and surrounded by concrete walls, the TV viewers got to see how unique bonds are created between the chosen participants. But that’s not the only place you catch a glimpse of the actor these days.

For the very first time, Anette has been on stage with her husband Nils Ole Oftebro, stepson Jakob and son Jonas. It happens in the play “Lang dags ferd mot natt” at Oslo Nye Teater.

The veteran actor can also be seen in the TV 2 series “Purk” and has a minor role in the comedy-drama “Pørni”.

GOOD SUPPORT: Anette is grateful for her husband’s support. This winter she has been on stage together with Nils Ole, son Jonas Hoff Oftebro and stepson Jakob Oftebro.

In his prime

At an age when many choose to downsize, it may seem as if Anette is going in the opposite direction.

– It’s been a lot of fun to do in recent years, and I’ve gotten to work with many great people. I wouldn’t say I’m stepping up, but I’ve worked as much in the last few years as I’d like to always do.

– There aren’t always that many jobs and offers for a female actor of my age, so I am very grateful and happy for every good connection I get to be a part of, says Anette happily.

BASEMENT TEAM: Anette and the rest of the cellar team established very close ties during the recording of the TV program “The Game”.

The actor emphasizes that getting older also has its advantages.

– The nice thing about getting older is that it’s not so dangerous anymore. I don’t feel I have much to defend. I know very well who I am as a person, how I like to work and which people I think are good to work with. I feel safe in work situations and in gatherings. It is very delicious.

“Hotel Caesar”

The security she has acquired today has taken time to build up. Anette really became a household name for her iconic role as Juni Anker-Hansen in the soap opera “Hotel Cæsar”, which was broadcast on TV 2 from 1998 to 2017.

After the Cæsar adventure ended, it took time for her to get her career back on its feet.

– I have not always been able to maintain the same faith in myself. After Cæsar, I worked for almost two years to get out of the Cæsar bubble and into the warmth of film and TV people again. It took a long time for me to be “approved” as an actor again.

– It was quite a tough period. Then you must not give up, then. It’s also about being lucky and meeting some good people who believe in you and give you the opportunity. Fortunately, I have had that.

Her husband Nils Ole Oftebro

Then it was good to have her husband and actor Nils Ole Oftebro (79) in her corner.

SOAP STARS: Anette Hoff played Juni Anker Hansen in the soap opera “Hotel Cæsar” from start to finish – a role for which she won the Gullruten in 1999.

– Having a partner who can provide for you when you have no income, but who is also psychologically there and says: “It’s going to be all right” – that was hugely important. I am extremely lucky to have had it, Anette says candidly:

– The fact that Nils Ole and I have had the same profession has meant an enormous amount to the way we understand each other’s situation and what it will require of us. We are in agreement and know what the other is facing at all times. Then we are good at cheering each other on!

“The game” is broadcast on TV 2 on Sunday at 8 p.m.
