This Easter, NRK tried a completely new concept, “Easter crime games”. The program involves ten celebrities competing in traditional Easter activities on the mountain, and the loser is “killed” in a humorous way.

Both the TV viewers and the participants had the task of guessing who the Easter killer was, and on Saturday Alexander Rybak (37) was revealed as the killer in the programme.

But it does not seem that the program was entirely to the liking of the Norwegian people, and on social media several people have shown their dissatisfaction with this year’s Easter programme.

Lower viewership

“Easter crime games” is a relatively similar concept to “24-star Christmas calendar”, also with Markus Neby (32) as presenter.

In the Christmas programme, celebrities fight their way through familiar Christmas activities to be the one left standing as the winner on Christmas Eve.

Last year’s season of the Christmas calendar was a great success for NRK, and a total of 910,000 people watched the programme.

The viewing figures from the last three episodes of “Easter Crime Games”, on the other hand, show much lower results. The program averaged just over 500,000 viewers this Easter.

But the individual episodes have not had as good a payoff as the Christmas version.

422,000 viewers caught the final episode where the killer was finally revealed. The episodes “Påskerenn” and “Den stille uke” had viewing figures of 483,000 and 481,000 respectively.

Project editor at NRK, Jan Egil Ådland, tells Nettavisen that they are satisfied with the viewing figures for the programme:

– It is gratifying that the average viewing figures for the season end up at over half a million, and that two of the episodes end up on NRK’s top 5 list for Easter, says Ådland.

However, the program has received some criticism from TV viewers, and Ådland does not hide the fact that he had hoped that more people would enjoy the “Easter crime games”.

Must be the bottom

In Nettavisen’s comment section, several users have written that the program was not for them, and that they therefore did not want to follow the series.

– I watched this program for five minutes and then it was over. Of the many strange programs made by NRK, this must be the bottom, a user has commented.

– What program was it? I don’t think Trettebergstuen should worry about anyone other than the participants’ families seeing this.

The project editor, Jan Egil Ådland, tells Nettavisen that he is proud of the concept, despite the mixed reactions:

– I would have liked to have seen that even more people had taken the opportunity to have fun with this gem of a series. At the same time, we must remember that this concept is groundbreaking work both in terms of genre and publication. I am incredibly proud of the series and the delivery from the production company Magga & Anders AS, says Ådland.

In the comments section on NRK’s Facebook profile, there are far more divided opinions among viewers. While some question the state channel’s ethical values, others praise the TV concept:

– This is top entertainment. Has the impression that NRK and TV2 get “so the hat fits” if they broadcast something a little non-traditional, writes one user, while another writes:

– This was fun! We watched it with the kids and they LOVED it. Just as cozy as the Christmas calendar for Markus last year.
