The historically high price level remains.

– I am excited about whether there will be a 5+ price, or whether we will get a higher price for 6+, says a buyer to iLaks.

He refers to the following prices (for breeders) for the coming week:

  • 3-4 kg NOK 122
  • 4-5 kg NOK 125
  • 5-6 kg NOK 127-128

That means a new week, the third in a row, with prices above NOK 120 per kilo for salmon of superior quality.

Positions
– The flight market of 5+ has been extremely bad this week, as there are some big ones who have dumped and taken positions. I’m excited to see if we finish next week, but it looks like it’s part of it.

iLaks collects spot prices for salmon every Friday after lunch. This is fish to be delivered the following week. Here we contact several links in the value chain, including breeders, exporters and importers. We always have at least five independent sources, although not all sources necessarily appear in print. We vary which sources we use, and do not use the same sources every time.

In any case, he does not see any major movements in the spot price.

– No, it is not. The packages are closed on Friday and Monday of the following week. I think there can be good prices for those who sit on Thursday slaughter and Tuesday next week.

– It is still a market characterized by little whole fish, but also characterized by extreme fear. We are balancing, says a trader.

– The airport markets take the same amount of fish as before, but the price does not match. Europe must take the fish – and they are merciless. Now it is incredibly difficult. There has not been as little whole fish exported since 2019 as last week, he points out.

– If you are going to buy the same as last week, you must be very careful.

Stable
– It holds or perhaps strengthens a little, in the middle of the 120s. If there’s any way, I think it’s a bit up. That is what has been worked on. There has been no problem selling, says an exporter to iLaks.

The message about prices in the mid-120s is repeated by several sources.

– We haven’t sold anything in particular. The only sale we have made today is 4-5 for NOK 129, says a breeder, before adding: – I have also heard NOK 124 for 3-4 and NOK 126 for 4-5.
