– He wants revenge – Dagsavisen

--

– If Donald Trump wins the presidential election, we can expect a period of constant chaos where Trump will primarily take revenge on people who, in his eyes, have wronged him.

That is what John Bolton, who was Trump’s national security adviser in the US between 2018 and 2019, says in a recent interview with the magazine Kvartal. Swedish Omni has also discussed the matter.

– Trump demands loyalty, no matter what he asks. And now he wants revenge, says Bolton, though without naming examples of who might be on the list.

Claims the ex-president is like on the TV screen

However, Bolton is not alone in believing that the former president has revenge in his sights. Another of Trump’s former advisers, Fiona Hill, said the following in an interview with Dagsavisen in February:

– Donald Trump will be looking for revenge if he becomes president again after the election on November 5. He is out to take anyone who has dared to defy him. It was a really strong walkthrough tune when I was part of the Trump administration. He wants to hit everyone who has spoken out against him, Hill said.

– What is the “real” Donald Trump like? Is there a different side to him than the one you see on TV, for example?

– No. He’s like the person you see on the screen, Hill answered without hesitation.

– Things will get even worse if Trump wins again

Nupi researcher Karsten Friis and UXA program leader Thomas Seltzer have previously stated to Dagsavisen that Trump will try to avoid the opposition he faced internally during his first term in power, should he secure a new election victory on 5 November.

– Last time they got a place in the administration because Trump was not prepared to become president. This time he is, and will probably put loyal people in all key positions, Friis told Dagsavisen this autumn.

– Things will be even worse if he wins in 2024. Last time you had these generals who would not do as Trump said, and leaders from the Department of Justice who refused to follow his orders. That’s not going to happen again, because Trump is wise to the damage now, Seltzer said.

Trump hit back

Both Fiona Hill and John Bolton were at odds with Trump after their time as advisers in the White House. In his 2020 book “The Room Where It Happened”, Bolton described Trump as “corrupt and incompetent”.

The book contains strong criticism of the ex-president and a number of allegations of abuse he is said to have committed. Among other things, Bolton reports that Trump should have asked Chinese President Xi Jinping for help to be re-elected.

Donald Trump has himself attacked Bolton afterwards.

– John Bolton was one of the stupidest people in the government. But I used him well, Trump said last year, according to Newsweek.

John Bolton is known as a foreign policy hawk. He has served in the Ministry of Justice and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs under three Republican presidents, first under Ronald Reagan in the 1980s, writes NTB.

He was then US ambassador to the UN when George W. Bush was president.
