--

Union, NJ (4/25/24) – The Kean University baseball team won their 11thth straight game with a 6-0 shutout of Stockton University on Thursday afternoon in a tidy two-hour and two-minute contest.

HOW IT HAPPENED:

Kean (25-11, 11-4 NJAC) jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead in the first frame. The first three Cougars collected singles to load the bases. Phil Marcantonio delivered with a two RBI double and Gianni Marano lofted a sac fly for a three run advantage.

Christian Pellone made it 4-0 in the second with an RBI double.

The Cougars added insurance in the eighth as Marcantonio led off with his third double of the day, just off the top of the wall in left field. His three doubles tie a single-game Kean mark. Later in the inning, Kyle Adorno and Pellone both worked bases loaded walks to push the lead out to 6-0.

INSIDE THE NUMBERS:

Southpaw Rob Salvatore (5-1) tossed a complete game shutout allowing just four singles along the way with one walk. He found eight.

Offensively, Marcantonio and Pellone each had three hits and two RBI.
