Lufthansa City Airlines starts sales today – Takes over route to Oslo

--

The subsidiary of Lufthansa, City Airlines today starts the sale of tickets, from June the company will take over several routes that will be operated for the parent company.

As the newest airline in the Lufthansa Group, Lufthansa City Airlines will start its flight operations on 26 June 2024 with the first flight from Munich to Birmingham.

The young airline takes off with aircraft from the A320 family. The parent company has chosen to order 40 brand new aircraft of the Airbus A220-300 type and a further 20 aircraft in options. As the fleet grows, Lufthansa City Airlines will add more destinations in Europe to the network and gradually expand it.

Today, the company only has three Airbus A319-100 aircraft in its fleet. All three aircraft have been transferred from Lufthansa’s own fleet. The first two aircraft that made up the fleet when the company applied for an AOC license have already been returned to Lufthansa.

City Airlines will fly a wide range of routes for the parent company, among other things, the Oslo route from Munich will be taken over and operated with the Airbus A319 and eventually the A220, which Hangar.no wrote about this autumn.

Starting today, April 24, 2024, passengers will be able to book their tickets on feeder services for Lufthansa as well as for direct flights between Munich and a number of destinations. It will then also be possible to order the offered routes under flight number with the new airline code “VL” via the known sales channels at the Lufthansa Group, says a press release.
