It is Sarpsborg 08, Fredrikstad football club, Bypakke Nedre Glomma and Østfold public transport that beat the collective big drum the day before National Day.

Ordinary bus routes

In a press release sent out by Bypakke Nedre Glomma on Tuesday afternoon, it is stated that by showing a valid ticket to the match between Sarpsborg 08-HamKam at Sarpsborg Stadium or FFK-Strømsgodset at Fredrikstad Stadium, you can travel free on the bus both to and from match.

It is further stated that the offer applies to the regular timetable, and that no extra buses will be set up for the two football parties in Nedre Glomma on this day.

A large crowd is also expected at both of these two matches, and in the press release it appears that the two clubs, through this offer, want to contribute to less car chaos at their two arenas.

– The clubs must take social responsibility

– We want to help contribute to less car traffic. That’s why we contacted Bypakke Nedre Glomma to discuss possible solutions, says commercial manager Pål Tønnesen in Sarpsborg 08.

General manager Jostein Haug in Bypakke Nedre Glomma was not too hard to ask, and the community manager Netan Sansera in Fredrikstad Football Club also joined the team.

Together, the three parties found that they wanted to give football fans the opportunity to travel by bus to and from the matches.

– Environmental considerations and heavy traffic affect us all, so we will of course be involved in this. The football clubs must take social responsibility, and one of the areas we must take seriously is how we can get more people to go to football matches while the car stays at home, he says.

Better space on the roads

There are of course many people who, for various reasons, cannot get a bus to the match. But if more people choose to take the bus, cycle or go to the match, there will be more space on the roads for those who have to drive, says the call from the partners.

– Now it’s just a matter of looking forward to party football in both cities in our region. On the field we compete, but on the road to the zero growth target we cooperate. Remember to show a valid ticket to the match uninvited to the bus driver, concludes Jostein Haug, general manager of Bypakke Nedre Glomma in the press release.
