80 pounds, or over 1100 Norwegian kroner, is what you have to spend if you fancy the home kit Liverpool will play with next season. The new kit was launched on Thursday morning and the price is higher than ever. If you want the kit that the stars wear in matches, you have to shell out 125 pounds – over NOK 1,700.

The Athletic writes that Liverpool FC believes kit supplier Nike is to blame for the price having increased so much in recent years. The price of the regular home kit increases by 6.7 per cent, from £74.99 to £80.

Children’s suits, meanwhile, are up by 9.2 per cent, from £54.95 to £60. With today’s krone exchange rate, you therefore have to pay over NOK 800 for a kite for children.

Liverpool FC have been confronted with the price increase, and they believe that Nike is to blame. Nike has imposed a flat cost increase of 8.5 per cent for all the clubs they are in partnership with. They have also come up with an indicative price which they did not open to negotiation.

In other words, the club will not earn the large sums from an increase in kit prices. Instead, Nike will rake in, while the cost to consumers will of course be higher.

May switch to Adidas

The Liverpool supporters’ representatives on the club’s board have expressed concern about the increased prices, but they have been told that there is little that can be done when Nike decides the price.

Jonathan Rest in Sport Business reported last week that Liverpool Football Club is considering entering into an agreement with Adidas from the 2025/26 season. The Reds have had Nike as their main supplier of kits and equipment since 2020.

“Many indications are that Adidas has won the bidding round, in an agreement that will run over five seasons. It only comes into force from the 2025/26 season. Liverpool have not had a collaboration with Adidas for 13 years”.
