On Saturday, the Bergen City Marathon starts. Over 11,000 will take part, and thousands of festive spectators are expected along the slopes in central Bergen.

Many plan to have the banquet at one of Bergen’s eateries, which has led to several full restaurants on Saturday afternoon.

BA has taken the round to check where it is full, and where it is still possible to have a drink and rest your legs after the race.

– This year’s dress rehearsal

Olivia at Zacheriasbryggen is almost fully booked, according to duty officer Jonathan Skogstad.

– We notice a huge difference from a normal Saturday. There are around 700 people who have reservations with us, he says.

If there is a stay, it is still possible to get a place outside. There will be a drop-in system here, and there can quickly be a bit of a wait, according to Skogstad.

– We usually take this day as a dress rehearsal before 17 May. It will be a hectic and fun Saturday, he says.

Have prepared

Between 1200 and 1500 you will have to look far for a table at Villa Paradiso.

– We are fully booked in the middle of the day. Then there are many who have finished running, says general manager at Villa Paradiso Ole Bull, Therese Stien.

After 1500 there are still some free tables at the restaurant.

– There will be more logistics than usual, but we have prepared well. We have also bought in extra beverages, says Stien.

– Crazy rush

Villani in Skostredet is also fully booked.

– We are noticing a crazy trend. It’s full all day, says booking manager Linn Madsen at Villani.

Several larger groups have called in and hijacked large parts of the restaurant on Saturday.

– We have room

At Egon Bristol, they have a few tables left, according to general manager Henriette Raa Ellingsen.

– It will be a busy Saturday, and there may quickly be a bit of a wait. But we have free space, she says.

Egon Kjøttbasaren in Vågen does not want to say anything about the capacity on Saturday.

View to the target area

At Bjerck on Torgallmenningen, 185 come for lunch and 190 for dinner, according to general manager Ellen Nygård Nilsen.

– Many people want to have the banquet with us. We have a full view of the target area, says Nilsen.

The restaurant is mostly fully booked, but they have a few tables available for drop-in, according to the general manager.

Opportunities right at the goal

Right by the finish line is Sjøboden. Here you can drop in all year round. Also Saturday.

– It is important to have some recovery drink after a long run, says general manager at Sjøboden, Morten Hansen.

The outdoor seating is cleared away while the race is in progress, but is put out as soon as the event is over.

– Regardless of the weather, there will be a good atmosphere inside Sjøboden, says Hansen.
