Reports away supporters after violence and vandalism – NRK Vestfold and Telemark – Local news, TV and radio

--

Head of security at Sandefjord football (SF), Per Magnus Larsgård, believes LSK supporters went way over the line at Sunday’s football match at Jotun Arena in Sandefjord.

The match ended 0–1, but in retrospect what happened behind the stands has received at least as much attention as the result.

After the match, Sandefjord Fotball has published an article on its own website in which the head of security strongly criticizes the away supporters.

According to Larsgård, one of the club’s volunteers was injured when a fence was thrown at a guard.

The security chief says vandalism was carried out, and that there were internal fights among the away supporters.

The opposing club disagrees with the criticism.

Conflicting experiences

Tony Johansen, who is the manager of Canary Fanssays he was surprised when he saw what Sandefjord Fotball had published.

I think it’s a shame that you make a number of claims that are not correct.

Kanari-Fansen has written in a separate statement that it is regrettable that a person was injured, but that the fence was pushed away and not thrown at the guard.

Johansen says it is unacceptable that someone created a flood in a toilet, so that there was water damage in a kiosk, but that it is one or two of several hundred visiting supporters who were behind it.

Doesn’t recognize himself

The supporters leader reacts strongly to the allegations of internal fighting.

– You talk down Lillestrøm supporters as a gang that flies around and fights. We don’t do that, says Johansen.

He says Sunday was characterized by a good atmosphere, not internal disagreements.

– There are many people who do not recognize much of what Sandefjord brings.

Asked to review

General manager Espen Bugge Pettersen says Sandefjord Football has produced a report summarizing the events.

– In addition, the police have requested us to report.

The club delivers a report that concerns both violence and vandalism, Pettersen tells NRK.

He believes it is natural that Sandefjord Football and the visiting supporters have different opinions about what has happened.

– I have praised Kanari-Fansen’s attempt to clean up unwanted incidents.

Asking the clubs to take action

The Norwegian Football Association states that it is the clubs that are responsible for their own events.

The clubs must also react to unwanted incidents at the stadium, while the association intervenes when the completion of a match is prevented, or the safety of those involved is threatened.

The Football Association has received a report after the match between Sandefjord and Lillestrøm. The statements of both the club and the supporters have been recorded, says competition director Nils Fisketjønn.

Although the statements vary somewhat, and the fact is difficult to establish, it seems clear that the event involved various challenges and incidents that we assume the clubs themselves will take measures to avoid in the future.
