It happens two days after he became Norwegian champion with Storhamar after beating Vålerenga in this year’s final series.

– I’m looking forward to it, says Thoresen to TV 2.

The 40-year-old says that he has been in regular contact with national team manager Tobias Johansson recently.

Thoresen played a powerful last final match against Vålerenga and showed that he still has the level to play for Norway to the highest degree.

– It has ignited a little glow in me. I felt two or three years ago that I was done with the national team, and that I had done my part. But now I’ve had a very good season at the age of 40, and when the national team management sees something in me and says I can contribute something both on and off the ice, it awakens some feelings I thought were gone, says the hockey legend.

Thoresen says that it did not become any more difficult for them to report for duty after Minnesota Wild’s NHL pro Mats Zuccarello had done the same.

The World Cup in ice hockey will be played from 10 to 26 May. Norway plays its matches in the Czech capital, Prague.
