The Feyenoord manager is said to have now identified himself as Liverpool’s favorite in the hunt for Jürgen Klopp’s successor. The German will leave the club this summer.

On Wednesday, several British media reported that the Scousers had started negotiations with Feyenoord.

“They are also in contact with Slot, who is said to be enthusiastic about the possibility of a transfer to Merseyside,” writes renowned The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.

According to Ornstein, Liverpool will also take a closer look at alternative candidates, but Slot has now identified himself as their main candidate.

Dutch De Telegraaf writes that Feyenoord can demand up to 15 million euros for Slot.

“The talks with Feyenoord will probably primarily be about compensation, which is a clear indication that Slot is keen on the job”, writes The Times.

Slot was interim coach of Cambuur between 2016 and 2017, before signing for AZ Alkmaar in 2019. When rumors began to swirl that the Dutchman was in negotiations with Feyenoord, he was sacked by the club.

Shortly afterwards he took over Feyenoord. There he immediately achieved success. First, he led them to the final of the Europa Conference League, before they won the Dutch league in 2022/23.
