Markus Slyngenborg Jensen informed the club’s management late last week that he has chosen to seek new challenges, and is thus resigning from his position at IK Start. Markus joined the club ahead of the 2022 season, and has held various roles in the past two years. Most recently as the club’s media manager.

– I am proud to have been allowed to represent IK Start during the time I have been here. The club took a chance on a young 23-year-old from Halden, which I am very grateful for. I have experienced a lot, learned a lot and developed enormously. I have a lot to thank Start for, he says.

Slyngenborg Jensen says that it was not an easy choice to resign, but that an opportunity has arisen that he wants to seize.

– I had a great time in Kristiansand, and got to know people in and around the club that I really appreciate. I have been given a lot of responsibility despite my young age, and felt both challenges and mastery. All this has meant a lot to me, and when I leave the gates I will still be cheering for these people and this club, says Markus.

Now a new everyday life awaits the 25-year-old from Halden at Eliteserieklubben Fredrikstad FK.

– An opportunity has arisen in FFK in the Eliteserien which I have chosen to seize. It feels right to me personally, and I’m looking forward to getting started in Fredrikstad. Then I hope we see each other again in the Eliteserien, or a cup final, in a few years, he concludes.

General manager of IK Start, Sveinung Hedding-Valvik, has the following to say about the news of Markus Slyngenborg Jensen’s resignation.

– It is always sad to lose a good employee and colleague who has really stood out during a difficult period for the club. At the same time, this is a good opportunity that suited Markus well right now. I would like to thank Markus for a fantastic collaboration and an unparalleled effort, we will miss Markus, but we will of course keep in touch, says Hedding-Valvik.

PS: Markus will initially start in FFK on 1 July, but both the clubs and Markus are in dialogue about the possibilities for an earlier start.
