The man has been reported to the police by Lier Arbeiderparti and a local organization in LO, according to Drammens Tidende.

VG writes on Monday that the person in question has acknowledged the relationship and laid all the cards on the table. He cooperates fully with both the organizations and the police, according to the defender.

– This case is rooted in very difficult personal relationships, but my client understands the seriousness of the case and is prepared to accept the consequences of his actions. The client is very distraught at having abused the trust that has been shown to him over many years in both LO and the Labor Party, says the man’s defender, lawyer Kim Ellertsen, in a press release from the Elden law firm to NTB.

Lierposten mentioned the case first.

The extent is not yet known, but it should be a significant amount, confirms Ellertsen. His client has expressed relief at having been exposed and conveyed that he will now contribute to clarifying the case as best he can.

The embezzlement will correspond to an amount of approximately NOK two million, VG is informed by the party.

– Our goal is to handle the situation in an orderly and responsible manner. We are cooperating with the police and will contribute to a fair investigation of the incident, says leader Per Arne Bredesen of Lier Ap in a press release.

The reported politician is currently on sick leave and has resigned from all positions of trust, emphasizes Ellertsen.
