The summer weather continues: Forecast 25 degrees

--

Spring has seriously announced its arrival in large parts of the country.

On Wednesday, Southern Norway also got a real taste of summer, with over 20 degrees in several places. This led to people flocking to outdoor restaurants, parks and bathing spots to enjoy the fine weather.

And if we are to believe the meteorologist, there is no reason to put away the sunglasses just yet. It will be even warmer today – at least in some places.

– Hottest day so far

Forecast 25 degrees

Over 20 degrees were measured in all counties in southern Norway on Wednesday. It was also 20 degrees in Trøndelag, while 19.3 was measured in Nordland.

The warmest was in Bergen, which reached a whopping 23.6 degrees on Labor Day.

– It will be a brilliant day in Western Norway today too, with lots of sun and little wind. In Bergen it can be 25 degrees, says meteorologist on duty at the Meteorological Institute, Eldbjørg Moxnes, to Dagbladet.

The good weather also continues elsewhere in southern Norway. Most places will have the same temperature as Wednesday – but areas south of the capital will be able to experience a little more cloud in the afternoon, the meteorologist says.

Wednesday was the first day of the year with temperatures above 20 degrees. Although many Norwegians may have been taken to bed by the summer temperatures, it is not unusual for such high temperatures in May, according to Moxnes.

But how long will the good weather in the South last?

– The warm air will dominate in southern Norway until Saturday. From Sunday, temperatures will drop around five degrees, and next week it looks like it will be around 15 degrees in most places, says the meteorologist.

She adds:

– There is nothing to indicate that it will be very cold again.

Snow may come

While southerners bathe in sun and high temperatures, summer-happy northerners have to be patient.

– There is a real difference in temperature between the south and the north. In the North it is considerably colder. In eastern parts of Finnmark, it is between 5 and 6 degrees – and temperatures can occasionally drop to 0. This means that the precipitation can come as snow, says Moxnes and adds:

– There may be a relapse of wintry weather, but it is not unusual for snow showers in Finnmark at the beginning of May.

Warning: Strong spread

Blood red pollen map

In line with the increased temperatures, the spread of pollen also increases. Several areas in Norway are now blood red on the map of the occurrence of birch pollen.

The Norwegian Asthma and Allergy Association (NAAF), which is responsible for the national pollen warning, has this week warned of a heavy spread of birch pollen both in Eastern Norway, Southern Norway and in Møre and Romsdal.

Birch pollen is the variety most people react to in Norway.

Already in mid-April, senior researcher at NAAF, Hallvard Ramfjord, encouraged everyone with a birch pollen allergy to start taking medication early in order to get the best possible effect of the treatment.
