This is the indictment against Gjert Ingebrigtsen

--

The police believe Gjert Ingebrigtsen has exposed one of his children to threats, coercion and violence over four years.

This is apparent from the indictment that has now been brought against him.

– Ingebrigtsen disagrees with the presentation of the events on which the indictment is based – and he consequently does not plead guilty, says his defender, John Christian Elden to VG.

According to the indictment, the family violence must have taken place in the period between 2018 and until 5 January 2022. The two-page indictment describes threats, coercion, violence, limited freedom of movement and other forms of violations.

A central incident in the investigation has been an episode involving a towel at the beginning of January 2022. At that time, Gjert Ingebrigtsen and the offended child are said to have argued.

According to the indictment, Ingebrigtsen yelled at the victim, held a finger up in the person’s face – before hitting the face with a wet towel so that a red mark appeared on the cheek.

This must have been a reason for the runner brothers Jakob, Henrik and Filip to break the sporting collaboration with their own father a short time later. The indictment does not concern any of the three running brothers.

All the episodes mentioned in the indictment concern one and the same child.

The indictment describes a total of seven points which deal with several cases of physical and psychological abuse.

– Gjert does not want to engage in any controversy in the media with his child, and is not going to comment on any of the allegations specifically, apart from the fact that he denies having committed any criminal offence, says Elden.

– Serious

Assistance lawyer Mette Yvonne Larsen represents five of the Ingebrigtsen children.

– The indictment that has been brought is serious and concerns one of my clients who is in a vulnerable situation. The person today feels that they are believed, says Larsen.

The legal aid lawyer says that all of her clients have told of a tough upbringing.

– They have always been concerned with getting Gjert out of their lives, she says.

The public prosecutor does not wish to comment on the details that emerge from the indictment.

Espen Skoland is press adviser for the running brothers:

– This is a private family situation. They do not wish to comment on the matter. The brothers have asked for peace and want to focus fully on sports. They are grateful that the press has respected this wish, says Skoland.
