For a while it has been known that the Samsung Galaxy S23 series would get the same smartness as the new S24 mobiles. That is to say, the software should get a real boost with the artificial intelligence that was baked into the latest flagships that arrived earlier this year.

This is now being rolled out in connection with the One UI 6.1 update in this country. In addition to the S23, this dose of AI snacks also comes to the Z Fold5, Z Flip5 and the entire Tab S9 series.

What does this mean? Yes, that you who are sitting on one of these models have now suddenly got a much trickier mobile phone.

Admittedly, there is no question of a full AI overhaul, because there are certain things that are quite simple is not available in Norwegian – we particularly mention the transcription and interpretation functions.

But even if artificial intelligence is not the answer to everything, it will still be able to help those who struggle a little with communication. Because what works well in Norwegian are “all the text-based parts of Samsung’s AI, which are easily accessible as long as you use Samsung’s own keyboard or browser. Here you can summarize long texts, get help writing yourself or clean up messy notes. For example, if you write that you are ill and have to cancel today’s meetings, the AI can “translate” this into formal language, playful language or other predetermined parameters.

This according to our review of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra.

In addition to this, we must mention functions such as translating and suggesting adjustments in messages through the so-called Chat Assist, direct translation for telephone conversations with Live Translate and Google’s Circle to Search function. The latter allows you to draw a circle around what you want to know more about, and suddenly you get an image search on Google. The mobile can also generate summaries of news articles.

For those of you who take a lot of photos, the update also offers good AI news. If you take a picture that you are not completely satisfied with, the artificial intelligence will let you make changes – for example, move or remove an element in the picture to make it even better.

The Instant Slow-mo function also allows you to generate “extra” images and thus create slow-motion videos from other videos that were not initially recorded in slow-motion.

Furthermore, it is expected that artificial intelligence will also enter Apple’s mobiles with iOS 18, which will probably be presented at the beginning of June.

Will AI features improve your mobile usage?
