The descent occurred after the police at 3 o’clock wanted to stop and check the car after it had driven erratically on the E18 from Kristiansand in the direction of Lillesand.

No persecution

Police operations manager Knut Odde tells NTB that the car picked up speed when the police turned on the blue light, and that after a couple of minutes the police patrol fell far behind due to the high speed.

Drove off the road

At 3.23 the police received a report of a car that had driven off the road at Skuggevik in Lillesand. This turned out to be the same car that had driven from the police just ahead.

It was first reported that the person was ill when health personnel supervised the person concerned. Not long after, the police announced that the person in question had died.
