In the spring of 1963, Brian Wilson (81) and the rest of the members of The Beach Boys experienced being catapulted into the limelight at national level in the USA.
With the album “Surfin’ USA” they climbed all the way to number two on the Billboard chart, and over the next few years they released iconic songs such as “I Get Around”, “God Only Knows”, “Good Vibrations” and “Wouldn’t It Be Nice”.
Raser: – Far from the truth
Paul McCartney himself (81) has referred to “God Only Knows” as one of the world’s best songs, while Rolling Stone has named the 1966 album “Pet Sounds” one of the world’s best albums of all time – created by “one of the most interesting and unique musical geniuses”; Brian Wilson.
41 years after the breakthrough was indeed a fact, it is uncertain how much of the success and tributes he remembers. Last winter, the news broke that The Beach Boys legend had developed dementia. At the same time, it became known that the family has applied for guardianship for him, and now court documents reveal more details about the musician’s condition.
Got ALS – going to die soon
Seemed confused
RadarOnline reports that a court-appointed attorney recently visited Wilson at his Beverly Hills home to talk about the family’s plan to put him under guardianship.
The decision to appoint Wilson family representatives LeeAnn Hard and Jean Sievers as guardians for The Beach Boys star was shared on Instagram in mid-February.
According to the website, which refers to court documents, the Beach Boys frontman appeared “confused” when asked about the guardianship, but confirmed that applicants have been working with him for several years. It was clear he trusted them, saying he trusted them to act in his best interest, according to the lawyer.
Furthermore, the lawyer stated that Wilson was well informed as to his person, time and place, but added:
– [Han] acknowledged and answered to his name, gave his date of birth, time of day and today’s date, but was unable to give me the names of his children with the exception of the two daughters who live with him.

Furthermore, the lawyer could report that the music legend “was mostly difficult to understand and gave very short answers to questions and comments”, and that he uses a walker to get around – with assistance from his carers.
According to RadarOnline, the lawyer concluded his visit by recommending that the guardianship be approved.
At the end of January, Brian Wilson lost his wife of almost three decades, Melinda. She lived to be 77 years old.
While Brian and Melinda were together, they adopted five children: Dakota Rose, Daria Rose, Delanie Rose, Dylan and Dash, writes People. From his marriage to Marilyn Wilson (76), Brian is also the father of daughters Wendy (54) and Carnie Wilson (55).
– Felt like I was in the youngest team
– Our five children and I are dissolved in tears. We are delusional. Melinda was more than my wife. She was my lifesaver. She gave me the emotional security I needed to have a career. She gave me the courage to make the music that was closest to my heart. She was my anchor. She was everything to us, was among the things Brian Wilson shared in a touching Instagram post after his wife’s death.
It was after Melinda Ledbetter Wilson’s death that the remaining family decided to apply for guardianship, as Melinda had provided Brian with crucial help and support in everyday life before her passing.
It is expected that the application for guardianship will be dealt with in a legal hearing by the end of this month.
