Temporarily closed airspace over Southern Norway – Greater Oslo

The airspace over the whole of southern Norway is closed on Thursday morning.

– Significant delays are expected. Duration is currently unknown, writes Avinor in a press release.

This will particularly affect travelers going through Stavanger and Oslo Airport.

At Oslo Airport, the last flight took off at 6 o’clock, according to Avinor’s overview.

A technical error

The closure is due to a technical error at Avinor’s control center at Røyken in Asker. This happened a little before 6:30.

– There are two systems that do not talk to each other. And that has meant that we have to close the airspace over the whole of southern Norway, says Ylva Celius Trulsen, press officer in Avinor to NRK.

Avinor encourages all travelers to comply with the information they receive from their airline.

– We apologize for the inconvenience this causes. This is all the information we have at the moment. We will come back with more information, they write.

Avinor is responsible for 43 state-owned airports as well as the air traffic control service for civil and military aviation in Norway.
